Tis’ The Season for Tamales

In celebration of this festive season, we’d like to share our deepest gratitude for having the opportunity to be a part of the Ostional Community. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for the Guanavista project. It has been a journey filled with new learning experiences, growth and commitment. We’re thrilled to continue to share our progress with you all.

Sharing the beauty and abundance Ostional has to offer has led us to a deeper appreciation for the healthy lifestyle it permits us to attain. This Christmas the Ostional Community is coming together to host a gift exchange and food for the children in the community. We are excited to take part in the event and invite you to join us.

The initiative “Caritas Sonrientes” is spearheading this event and continues to welcome contributions in the form of gifts, food items, or financial support through either cash or bank transfers. Additionally, they are extending an invitation to volunteers for the event day scheduled at the heart of Ostional on December 26th, from 9 am to 12 pm. If you’re interested in participating, please feel free to get in touch with us. Your involvement will make a meaningful difference in our community.

We’re reminded of the magic that comes with connecting with our loved ones and the community, as the holiday season unfolds. Here in Costa Rica, our traditions may not involve snowmen, but they are just as heartwarming. Have you ever experienced the joy of making (or savoring) “tamales”? This dish is one of the trademark traditions we share during this time in Costa Rica. Picture this: cornmeal, succulent pork, carrots, and potatoes wrapped in a banana leaf, simmering over an open fire. Whether crafted with love at home or sourced from local vendors, the experience is nothing short of magical. Pair it with a cup of rich Costa Rican coffee and a splash of “Salsa Lizano” for the perfect holiday treat. Let’s not forget about “rompope” our festive take on eggnog. It’s a must during this time of year, offering a taste of tropical delight.

While our Christmas might lack the traditional snow, the air is filled with a different kind of enchantment that’s uniquely Costa Rican. It’s a celebration of warmth, community, and the spirit of Pura Vida. This new year comes with lots of excitement to watch our project come to life, as we are set to break ground early January.

If you find yourself traveling to Costa Rica, we recommend visiting the Guanacaste area. This region offers its beautiful beaches, kind faces and perfect weather to be enjoyed especially during this time of the year.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Wishing you and your loved ones a holiday season filled with joy, laughter, and the magic of the Guanacaste area.

Cheers to a wonderful year ahead, feliz navidad y año nuevo!

Warmest wishes,

The Guanavista Team
